Rainbow boa. Coils of a Brazilian rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchria cenchria). This snake in named due to its iridescent scales, which give its skin a multicoloured sheen. The rainbow boa inhabits the tropical rainforests of northern South America. It hunts at twilight and by night. It is a constrictor, catching small mammals and birds in its mouth before suffocating them in its coils. It may reach a length of over two metres.
