Green python (Chondropython viridis) in hunting posture on a low tree branch. Adult green pythons reach around 2 metres in length. It is a sit-and- wait predator that catches small mammals, reptiles and some birds. Although primarily arboreal, female green pythons lay their eggs on the forest floor. The young are bright yellow when they hatch. C. viridis lives in wet tropical rainforests in New Guinea and Australia.
