Slinky toy. Hands holding a slinky toy. This plastic spring moves down stairs and ramps when pushed. As the top coil is pushed over, the spring stretches, and pulls the rest of the slinky behind it. Momentum then carries the new top end past the rest of the slinky, and the process repeats until it is on a level surface. The potential energy of the spring is converted into kinetic (movement) energy and back again during this motion.
