Captive crested black macaques (Macaca nigra) grooming. This monkey is also known as the celebes crested macaque and it is native to Sulawesi and the neighbouring islands in Indonesia. It feeds mostly on fruit, but will also eat leaves, flower buds, fungus, bird eggs and insects. The crested black macaque is killed for being an agricultural pest that devastates crops and fields while searching for food. It is also hunted for its meat. Photographed in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
