Skull of a gorilla (Gorilla gorilla). This is a large ape that inhabits forests in central and western Africa. It is the largest living primate. Its skull differs from a human skull in having more pronounced brows, thicker bones and a far smaller cranial capacity (meaning it has a smaller brain). It is thought that humans and gorillas diverged in evolutionary terms around 7 million years ago.
