Caption

Mexican fishing bat (Pizonyx, or Myotis, vivesi) eating a mullet. This bat inhabits the islands and coastal regions of western Mexico. At night it emerges from its cave to hunt fish over the sea, often several kilometres off shore. It has a slow flight very close to the surface of the water, and scoops fish from the surface using its long toes (top centre). It either eats the fish in flight or returns to a perch to devour them.
