Caption

Fruit bat. Head of Buettikofer's epauletted fruit bat (Epomops buettikoferi). The fruit bats feed on fruit and nectar and are important pollinators. This African fruit bat, found in tropical forests and savanna, is one of a large group of fruit bats that use eyesight and smell to find their food. Other bats usually locate objects by reflected sound (echolocation).
