Wood mouse. High-speed photograph of a wood mouse, Apodemus sylvaticus, in mid-leap. This mainly nocturnal mouse is a good climber. It is found in deciduous woods, cultivated land and orchards. It feeds on seeds, berries, fruit and roots, storing large quantities of food in storerooms in its burrow. It does not hibernate in mild winters, often moving into a warm building instead. This mouse is found throughout Europe and central Asia.
