Lodgepole chipmunks (Tamias speciosus) eating seeds. These chipmunks live in coniferous forests around mountains in the western USA, hibernating during the winter. They feed mainly on seeds, fruit and insects, storing food in their cheek pouches and hoarding it at their nests. Chipmunks are an important prey animal for many bird and mammal species. Photographed in California, USA.
