White mouse (Mus musculus). This albino form has pink eyes and white fur. This omnivorous rodent has been distributed throughout the world by humans. It lives in the wild and in human houses, eating vegetation and scraps of human food. It can attain 15-19 centimetres in length and breeds at a tremendous rate, with 5-10 litters, each with 3-12 young, every year. It is a popular household pet, and is also used as a laboratory animal. It will live for around 2 years in captivity. In the wild, it is preyed upon by many predators, and also contributes to the spread of disease.
