Sea otter. Sea otter (Enhydra lutris) holding a starfish. This mammal dives for crabs, sea urchins, clams, mussels, octopuses and fish, which it eats piece by piece while lying on its back. A rock may be used to crack open shelled food. Sea otters live in shallow water along coastlines. Their streamlined bodies and webbed hind feet are ideally suited for hunting in water. Photographed in California, USA.
