Polar bear. View of a male polar bear (Ursus maritimus) walking in snow. Polar bears can weigh up to 700 kg and have a body length of up to 2.5 metres. Polar bears are large carnivores which inhabit the ice floes and coastal waters of the Arctic region. They are solitary animals, meeting only to mate.
