Caption

Large-spotted genet. View of a large-spotted genet (Genetta tigrina). Genets are small, solitary nocturnal carnivores which inhabit the forests and grassland of Africa and southern Europe. The large-spotted genet lives largely in wooded areas of Africa, and feeds on small birds and mammals. They are quite cat-like in their behaviour, cleaning themselves fastidiously with their paws, and often playing with their prey. Their vision, hearing and smell are excellent, and they are sensitive to the slightest movement in their immediate area. Photographed in the Aberdare National Park, Kenya.
