Western red fox. Head of a western red fox, Vulpes vulpes macroura, resting on leaves and snow. Foxes are a very adaptable species and are found throughout the Northern Hemisphere. They are active both at day and at night, and feed on fruit, vegetables and small animals. Foxes live in dens, most commonly in deciduous woodland, but also venture into urban areas. Photographed in Uinta National Forest, Utah, USA.
