Red fox. View of a red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in snow. Foxes are an adaptable species found throughout the northern hemisphere. They are active both at day and at night, and feed on fruit, vegetables and small animals. Foxes live in dens, most commonly in deciduous woodland, but also venture into urban areas, where they scavenge from bins as well as hunt.
