Red fox. View of a red fox (Vulpes vulpes) standing on ice by a river in winter. Red foxes are an adaptable species weighing 2-7 kilograms. They are active both at day and at night, feeding on fruit, vegetables and any small animals they can catch. Red foxes live in dens, most commonly in deciduous woodland, but also venture into urban areas, where they scavenge from bins as well as hunt. They are found throughout the northern hemisphere. Photographed in Minnesota, USA.
