African hunting dogs (Lycaon pictus) scent marking a patch of grass. This is done to indicate the ownership of a particular territory. This dog lives in packs of up to 20 individuals, inhabiting the savannah of sub-Saharan Africa. As a pack, it hunts prey up to the size of a large antelope, although smaller animals are also taken. It may reach a metre in length. Photographed in the Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa.
