Dog shaking off water. Animal fur usually consists of several different hair types and layers. This helps to partially waterproof the animal when it gets wet, and makes it easier to shake off excess water. This domestic dog (Canis familiaris) is a yellow-coated version of the Labrador Retriever breed. The Labrador Retriever has webbed feet that help it to swim, and it loves to play in water. It has a smooth, short-haired double coat that can be easily groomed. It is a popular breed of pet dog, originating from Newfoundland, Canada. It has a gentle disposition and is also trained as a guide dog for the blind, and to detect drugs.
