Coyote (Canis latrans) hunting sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis). The coyote, also known as the prairie wolf, is found in open country from Alaska to Central America. It is most active at night, when it emits characteristic sharp barks and long howls. It feeds on small rodents, birds, rabbits and carrion. Photographed in Bosque del Apache, New Mexico, USA.
