Mountain lion. View of a mountain lion (Felis concolor) licking its lips. The mountain lion is also known as the puma, panther and cougar. A fully grown mountain lion has a body length of 1- 1.6 metres and a body weight of up to 100 kg. It is a solitary and territorial animal. The mountain lion preys on many mammals but prefers deer. By nature mountain lions are active by day and night, however in areas inhabited by man it may become nocturnal. It's range stretches from North America to South America. Photographed in Idaho, USA.
