Cheetah fur. Close-up of the coat of a cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), showing its spotted markings. The cheetah possesses coarse fur on its upper sides and flanks, which is yellow to reddish-ochre in colour with dark spots. The underside (not seen) is white with black spots. The last third of the tail (bottom left to centre) has black rings, the tip being white. This carnivorous cat is found in savanna and lightly-wooded areas of Africa south of the Sahara, and in Arabia from Iran to Kazakhstan.
