Caracal (Caracal caracal). This cat is related to the lynx. It measures about a metre from head to tail. Caracals are nocturnal predators. They feed mainly on birds, rodents and small antelopes. They live alone or in mated pairs, and are territorial. They are easily tamed and have been used as hunting animals in India and Iran. Caracals are found throughout Africa and in parts of the Middle East. They live in woodland, scrub forest and savannah. Photographed in Harnas Wildlife Reserve, Namibia.
