Leopard (Panthera pardus) snarling from a tree. The leopard, the smallest of the big cats, is a predatory carnivore. It eats a wide variety of prey including insects, fish, primates and ungulates. It often drags its kill up into the branches before feeding. The leopard, a solitary animal, is found in wooded savannah and forests throughout sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
