Newtons cradle is an apparatus with an odd number of steel balls suspended from a frame in a horizontal line. When one ball on the end is lifted it swings back, causing only the ball on the opposite end to move. This apparatus, often used as a desk toy, demonstrates the conservation of momentum and energy.
