Arizona cougar (felis concolor) in the branches of a tree. The cougar is also known as the puma, the panther and the mountain lion. A fully grown cougar has a body length of 1-1.6 meters and a body weight of up to 100 kg. It is a solitary and territorial animal, preying on most species of mammals - deer in particular. By nature cougars are active by day and night, however they have become strictly nocturnal in areas inhabited by man. They range from North America to South America.
