Ribbon seal (Phoco fasciata) resting on an ice floe. Ribbon seals are found throughout the Arctic regions of the Pacific ocean. They live on ice shelves and rarely venture into coastal areas. Their diet mainly consists of fish but pups may also eat crustaceans. Adults are recognisable by the disticntive white stripes on their bodies and can reach a length of 1.5 metres and a weight of 90 kilograms.
