Manatee swimming. West Indian manatee or sea cow (Trichechus manatus) swimming with a snorkeller. The manatee is an aquatic mammal that can remain submerged for up to 15 minutes before surfacing for air. Manatees consume up to 30 kilograms of vegetation per day. Usually solitary, this species occurs throughout the Caribbean, inhabiting rivers, estuaries and coastal waters. Photographed in Crystal River, Florida, USA.
