Wart hog family (Phacochoerus aethiopicus). Between 2 and 4 young wart hogs are born after a gestation period of around 175 days. They nurse from their mother for several months, becoming independent after about 1 year. Wart hogs live in small family groups, spending the hottest parts of the day sheltered under vegetation or in a den adapted from an old aardvark burrow. They inhabit savannah and grassland throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Photographed in the Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa.
