Hippopotamuses (or hippos, Hippopotamus amphibius) in water. Hippos are large water-loving herbivores that live in and around rivers throughout southern and eastern Africa. They spend the majority of the day resting in water and grazing on water plants. At night, they may leave the water to eat fruits and sugarcane. Hippos usually live in groups of around 15 individuals, though larger groups have been seen. Photographed at Luangwa Falls, North Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
