Giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis), adults and calf with mouthfuls of food. Giraffes have a single calf that is nearly 2 metres tall when born. It reaches sexual maturity after 3-4 years. Giraffes are herbivorous mammals that are found on the African savannah. They use their long necks to eat leaves from trees. They are the tallest animals, reaching heights of 5.5 metres.
