Red lechwes. Herd of female red lechwe (Kobus leche) in tall grass. These antelopes inhabit grassy flood plains and swamps in southern Africa. They are strong swimmers. Red lechwe can grow to heights of 1 metre to the shoulder. They live in single sex herds, usually numbering between 20 and 30 individuals. They are herbivorous, feeding on grasses, shrubs and semi-aquatic plants.
