African buffalo (Syncerus caffer). Bull (male) African buffalo standing in grass. This species of buffalo is found on the savannahs and woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds on grasses and other vegetation. Both sexes have low, curved horns. Males are highly volatile and are responsible for several human deaths a year.
