Alpine chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) on a rocky mountain slope. This mountain goat is found in the Alpine mountains of Europe. It reaches a shoulder height of 75 centimetres. Its summer coat (seen here) is light brown. The winter coat is black or very dark brown. It is a herbivore, feeding on grass and other vegetation. Photographed in the Swiss Alps, near Verbier.
