Kraken, a giant sea monster. Stories about this huge, many-armed creature were first told in Norwary in the 12th century. It was said that the kraken could reach as high as the top of a ship's main mast. It would attack a ship, wrap its arms around the hull and capsize it. The crew would then drown or be eaten. Today, it is thought that the sightings of the kraken may have actually have been of a giant squid (Architeuthis sp.).
