Weathered sandstone. Rounded sandstone cliffs that have been eroded by a process known as spheroidal weathering. This is a type of chemical weathering that occurs when groundwater penetrates joints and fractures in the rock, loosening it layer by layer and leaving rounded edges. Photographed in Dades Gorges (Gorges du Dades), Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
