Angiographic X-ray of narrowed arteries in the leg of a 68-year-old patient. There is a complete occlusion of the artery below the top of the tibia (shin bone), and tight stenosis (narrowing) of the femoral artery above the knee. Angiography is a diagnostic procedure in which a contrast medium opaque to X-rays is injected into the bloodstream to allow blood vessels to be studied on an X-ray.
