Angiographic X-ray of the leg of a 53-year-old patient who has undergone endovascular reconstruction of a narrowed femoral artery. During the procedure, a deflated balloon was passed into the artery on a guide wire, and the balloon was then inflated at the site of the obstruction, widening the artery and restoring blood flow. Angiography is a diagnostic procedure in which a contrast medium opaque to X-rays is injected into the bloodstream to allow blood vessels to be studied on an X-ray.
