PVC polymer, molecular model. PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is a thermoplastic polymer made up of repeating units of vinyl chloride. Here, the atoms of the molecular model are colour-coded: carbon (black), hydrogen (white), and chlorine (green). Each individual vinyl chloride unit contains two carbon atoms, three hydrogen atoms, and one chlorine atom. PVC, one of the most commonly produced plastics in the world, is used in a wide variety of products.
