Caption

Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station. Electrical generation and distribution equipment at the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station. Water, like that seen here, flows from a reservoir behind a dam through turbines that convert the kinetic energy into electricity. This is a relatively small power station, with seven units of 60 megawatts totalling around 400 megawatts of power. The site is operated by the GidroOGK company, and began generating in 1959. It is located on the Ob River, in Novosibirsk, Russia. Photographed in 2008.
