Hy-Bird solar and hydrogen powered plane. Aircraft designers with a model of their Hy-Bird aeroplane. This aircraft is powered by a combination of solar cells, which power the on-board electronics, and a hydrogen fuel cell, which powers the electric engine. It was designed and built by Lisa Airplanes with the purpose of being the first aeroplane to fly around the world using 100 percent renewably generated electricity. Photographed in Chambery, France.
