Lump-nosed bat (Plecotus darjilingensis). This artwork was by the British naturalist Brian Houghton Hodgson (1800-1894). Hodgson described many species of birds and mammals that he observed while working in British India. This artwork includes separate drawings of the bat's skull and stomach (left). This is drawing number 9 from Hodgson's 'Drawings of Mammalia'.
