Chilean river valley. Diagram showing the north-south section across the valley of Coquimbo, Chile. These observations were made by the British naturalist Charles Darwin on the second survey voyage of HMS Beagle. Darwin travelled in this area in May 1835. This diagram is from page 240 of Darwin's 'Geological Observations on South America' (1846).
