Lupus skin rash. Rash on the nose of a male patient with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). SLE is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks connective tissue, mainly in the skin, joints and kidneys, as if it were foreign tissue. There are a number of triggers for the rash, including drug reactions and sunlight. There is no cure for SLE, but it can be managed with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant drugs.
