Iliac arteries. Arteriograph (artery X-ray) of the abdomen, showing the iliac arteries of the groin. These arteries branch off the abdominal section of the aorta (upper centre), the body's main artery. The dividing point is in the lower abdomen, with the branches descending to form the femoral arteries in the upper legs. The arteries have been highlighted with the injection of a contrast medium. This frontal view includes spinal and pelvic bones.
