Hydrostatics. A page of illustrations showing various aspects of hydrostatic theory. At top left is a diagram illustrating the calculation of forces in uneven water surfaces, at bottom left are two methods of using weights to raise a water column. The remainder are illustrations of how water finds a common level in joined vessels open to the air irrespective of their shape. This page was first published in Daniel Bernoulli's 'Hydrodynamica' of 1738.
