Antipodean land masses. Two hemispherical maps of the globe. The one at right is centred on London. Black areas are those with antipodeal land masses, i.e. those on the exact opposite side of the world. This illustration was first appeared in the sixth edition of The Principles of Geology by Charles Lyell, published at London in 1853.
