Hospital patient (simulated by model) uses a sensor for breath sample analysis in a study to integrate a number of advanced diagnostic methods including mass spectrometry, thermal imaging and ultrasound blood flow measurement. This type of sensor collects samples from the optimum point of a number of respiratory cycles to be used for gas analysis, and is a technological equivalent of the diagnosing doctors 'nose' in the detection of, for instance, ketone presence in the breath.
