Epsilon is the fifth letter of the Greek alphabet. In the system of Greek numerals it has a value of 5. The uppercase Epsilon is not commonly used outside of the Greek language because of its similarity to the Latin letter E. The lower case letter is commonly used in computer science, physics, chemistry and mathematics. The Greek alphabet has an important role in the nomenclature of astronomical bodies and subatomic particles.
