Star motor car. This is the 1899 model of the motor car built by the Star Engineering Company of Wolverhampton, UK. This car was based on a Benz car, and so the design is also referred to as a Star-Benz car. The varnished wooden body of the car was built by the furniture makers Strouds. The engine was 3.5 horsepower driving a set of chains (one at lower left). The car was steered with the rotary handle in front of the driver, with a handbrake lever to the driver's left. This model was produced until around 1902.
