Bromeliad plants. Bromeliads are tropical plants, mostly found in South America, that have clusters of thick leaves. Most are also epiphytic plants that grow on rocks or other plants for support, and obtain nutrients from the air and rain. For this reason, epiphytic bromeliads are often called 'air plants'.
